A Modified Phase-Field Fracture Model for Simulation of Mixed Mode Brittle Fractures and Compressive Cracks in Porous Rock

چکیده

Abstract In this work, we propose a modified phase-field model for simulating the evolution of mixed mode fractures and compressive driven in porous artificial rocks. For purpose validation, behaviour rock samples, with either single or double saw cuts, under uniaxial plane strain compression has been numerically simulated. The simulated results are compared to experimental data, both qualitatively quantitatively. It is shown that proposed able capture commonly observed propagation pattern wing cracks emergence followed by secondary stresses. Additionally, typical types complex crack patterns tests successfully reproduced, as well critical loads.

Mixed Mode Fracture Analysis of Multiple Interface Cracks

This paper contains a theoretical formulation of multiple interface cracks in two bonded dissimilar half planes subjected to in-plane traction. The distributed dislocation technique is used to construct integral equations for a dissimilar mediums weakened by several interface cracks. These equations are of Cauchy singular type at the location of dislocation, which are solved numerically to obta...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Fracture in mode I using a conserved phase-field model.

We present a continuum phase-field model of crack propagation. It includes a phase-field that is proportional to the mass density and a displacement field that is governed by linear elastic theory. Generic macroscopic crack growth laws emerge naturally from this model. In contrast to classical continuum fracture mechanics simulations, our model avoids numerical front tracking. The added phase-f...

A phase-field description of dynamic brittle fracture

In contrast to discrete descriptions of fracture, phase-field descriptions do not require numerical tracking of discontinuities in the displacement field. This greatly reduces implementation complexity. In this work, we extend a phase-field model for quasi-static brittle fracture to the dynamic case. We introduce a phasefield approximation to the Lagrangian for discrete fracture problems and de...

A Geometrically Nonlinear Phase Field Theory of Brittle Fracture

Phase field theory is developed for solids undergoing potentially large deformation and fracture. The elastic potential depends on a finite measure of elastic strain. Surface energy associated with fracture can be anisotropic, enabling description of preferred cleavage planes in single crystals, or isotropic, applicable to amorphous solids such as glass. Incremental solution of the Euler–Lagran...
